ANGELS OF GOD

What is heaven to you? For some people it is like white clouds, angels, peace, silence and many other things. But do you think that in a world like this today we would attain heaven? I don’t think so. In present time the world is forgetting its culture, diversity, traditions and most important respect for their elders. The youth dwell upon the social media, Snapchat, Instagram are their daily oxygen which they breathe. They only remember their grandparents when its ‘Grandparents day’ or something else for which they have to post a selfie and use hashtags. Besides those reasons they completely forget that they have grandparents who are all alone but still love them with all of their heart. The adults these days are so much engulfed in their work that even they don’t give time to their old parents.

Have you ever thought that when you will become a senior citizen then what would be your condition? If you are one of them who does not have time for the old then that day is not far when you will have to face the same circumstances as to how you acted with them. Elders feel ecstatic even if you talk to them for minute and enshrine you with all of their hearts, still you can’t even spare five minutes for them?

Grandparents and the elderly at one’s house are like a blessing showered upon us. The people who have the fortune to live with them are lucky yet they don’t respect their elders, at least think of those who don’t even get a single sight of them in their life and are forbidden from their love.

Senior citizens are the true diamond mines of knowledge and wisdom. They have gone through so many situations all along their lives and have had so many varied experiences out of which they have learnt so much. They all have been past several ups and downs that make them precious. In other words, aren’t they like angels on earth who teach us so much in life?
For some people looking after them is tedious job to do but when we sit and talk to them we learn how to strengthen our relationships, when we care for them we learn tolerance. Whenever we get into a fight we come to them for resolutions. They teach us to be harmonious and not retaliate. Not only the kids but the even adults learn a lot from them.

The question that intrigues me these days is that why is there a rise in the old age homes? Is it because we are forgetting our elders? Yes, it indeed is. We hear many instances these days, people often leave their old, feeble parents and don’t even pay a visit as they’re engrossed in their daily life and engagements. People completely ignore that they even have parents to look after and love.

Growing old is and inexorable course of life. All of us one or the other day have to face it. Therefore, we ought to respect and love the elderly with all of our soul because they are the wise priests and keeper of the traditions in a family. To care, love and respect someone who care for us is the highest honor and grace that one can receive.

So, isn’t a place where senior citizens are loved, cared and respected, a place like heaven on earth? It certainly is!
