HATE THE SIN, NOT THE SINNER

Sometimes when we sit idle we just take a pen and a paper and start drawing a hole repeatedly at one particular place. After some time, we see that the ink impression is inflicted on the pages behind it. This is what happens during bullying. Bullying is like a vicious cycle, it starts where it ends and ends where it starts. In this case, if we take the pen as the major victor and the first ink impression as the victim, so when the paper’s absorption capacity is exceeded it passes on the ink to the next page and so on the chain continues. Same ways the bullies also become victims. They are affected by the environment in which they live. At home, if they have an unhealthy relationship with their parents or elders and see them using aggression or intimidation for finding their way out of situations then they are likely to interpret it. Further, there is always a group of ‘clichés’ in schools or colleges who pressurize a person to become a bully himself by rewarding him for his indifferent acts and superiority. Bullying also victimizes a bully on the basis of one’s judgement. For instance, if I tell you that I’m a bully, would you want to be friends with me? Obviously not and instantly form a negative opinion about me without knowing the cause of that act which would lead to frustration and exasperation of the bully, resulting in another major mishap. The other reasons for this kind of behaviour is revenge or vendetta. When the bully himself has been a victim then he wants the others also to feel the same way of what he has gone through and selects the same method which was opted for him. Thus, all these cases suggest that the bully is a victim of the past actions which has led to the ultimate victimization of him being becoming the victor. Therefore assume that there are two people in a dark room and you are one of them. Both of you have candles. Yet you blow off the other person’s candle because maybe you don’t like him of what he’s done with you in the past. But would blowing of his candle make yours glow any brighter? Think it over yourselves.
